The added value and quality of life enhancer for any competitive athletic event are the volunteers. Whether it be a foot race, bike race, or triathlon venue, the event is always gauged as a success or not by the quality of volunteer support. Race promoters are always concerned about “do I have enough volunteers?” For the Lake Logan International Triathlon, volunteer support is the best I or anyone that I spoke with has ever encountered in an event of this size.
Gregg Duff, the race promoter and manager, knows that he has a goldmine in the camp population of nearby Wellspring Adventure Camp, a specialty camp for the over-weight challenged teen and pre-teen, aged 11 to 18. “This is the most motivated group of volunteers that I have ever worked with.”
Motivated they are as they had more than one team of their own enter in the Sprint Triathlon on Sunday.
