Preparing to punch the monkey …

I believe that my wife K.B. has seen every swimming tutorial that YouTube has in their vast library.  Her compulsion is no doubt the desire to be the best competitive athlete that she can be as a world-class triathlete.  I benefit, too, as her swimming partner and companion when she (we) have gone together to swimming clinics and practices.

I am the one who has come out ahead because I get the CliffNotes version the next morning after an evening (sometimes, it seems all night) from her under-the-sheets theater with her streaming iPad and discreetly placed earbuds.

For K.B. to get the next N-th degree of propulsion and drag reduction in this stage of her stroke, she will next purposefully extend her arm and her hand in a very precise trajectory to the bottom corner of the pool in front of her.  This move will also simultaneously streamline her body and reduce drag,

This move is called “punch’in the monkey.”

Onward K.B.! – Faster, faster!
